We build the business software you can't buy off the shelf.

Web applications, databases, integrations and reporting for businesses. Every project starts with how your process actually runs today.

What we do

Six kinds of work we take on

Most projects reach us one of three ways: a spreadsheet that has outgrown itself, two systems that won't talk to each other, or a manual process that consumes a day a week.

Bespoke applications

Job tracking, quoting, compliance, scheduling, customer portals. Built for one business rather than configured from a product, and built to work properly on a phone as well as at a desk.

Data, dashboards & reporting

SQL and Power BI. We model the data once so your reports agree with each other, add drill-down where people need to ask why, and set up alerts on the figures that matter.

Integration & APIs

Accounts package, CRM, warehouse system, website. We connect them and handle the unglamorous parts: retries, error handling, and a log you can audit when something goes wrong.

Process automation

Multi-step workflows where each step is validated, recorded and repeatable. Usually this replaces something a person currently does by hand every week.

Legacy modernisation

Access databases, spreadsheets held together by macros, systems nobody currently maintains. We migrate them in stages so the business carries on running throughout.

Support & maintenance

Azure hosting, monitoring, and backups that get tested rather than assumed. When you call about a problem, you speak to someone who has worked on your system.

What we build

Three kinds of system we build

Different problems, but the approach is the same each time: understand the process, build the smallest useful version, then improve it in place.

Operational platforms

The system a team works in all day: records, workflow, permissions, documents. Often the hardest requirement is the audit history, because eventually someone needs to know who changed a figure and when.

Data & reporting

Getting figures out of the systems that hold them, modelling them once, then delivering them where decisions are made. This includes dashboards, report exports, or scheduled emails.

Integration & automation

Middleware that moves orders, invoices, stock and files between systems overnight. Built to cope with a third-party API being unavailable, and to leave a record of every run.

Why idash

You work directly with the people who build your software.

The person who scopes your project is one of the people who builds it. Requirements don't get diluted on the way through an account team, and when you need a technical decision you're talking to someone who can make it. That works the same whether you're a twenty-person business or one division of a much larger group.

  • You talk to developers. Nobody sits in between relaying requirements.
  • You see it early. We show working software rather than documents describing it.
  • Security is certified, not asserted. ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials, securely hosted.
  • We stay involved. Most of our work is for clients we already support.

idash Group Trading since 2001

idash Software is part of idash Group, alongside idash Solutions and Tara PV, so we build and run operational software for our own group as well as for clients. idash has been trading since 2001; the software team became a division in its own right in 2021.

How we work

From first conversation to live software

We don't write a 60-page specification before anything gets built. We start small, put it in front of you, and go from there.

Understand

A conversation, then time spent on how the work gets done today, including the parts that aren't in any process document.

Shape

A written plan: what gets built first, what it costs, and what it deliberately won't do yet.

Build

Short cycles, with something working at the end of each one. You use it, tell us what's wrong, and we adjust.

Run & improve

Deploy, monitor, back up, support. Then keep developing it as the business changes.

Our toolkit

The tools we work with

We choose technology on how maintainable it will be in five years, and we stay with a stack we know well rather than chasing new ones.

Ready when you are

Tell us what's slowing you down.

A 20-minute call is usually enough for us to tell you whether we can help, roughly what it would take, and whether you even need custom software at all.

For context: most first phases land between £15,000 and £50,000, depending on how much has to be integrated. We'll tell you which end you're at after the first call.
